Marissa and Matthew Bishop look like the perfect couple, with a son, great jobs and a lovely home in suburban Washington, DC. And then Marissa cheats on Matthew and they end up in counseling with Avery Chambers, a therapist who has lost her license, but offers a unique ten-session program for those in crisis that requires participants adhere to her unconventional process.

As Marissa and Matthew begin to unravel the complications of their relationship, their family and their emotions, events begin to occur that hint at deeper issues and secrets not yet revealed. Avery is drawn into what seems to be a collision course with the Bishops’ complicated life.

The Golden Couple is an addictive read, not something you pick up to fill in a few minutes here or there. I found myself not wanting to put this suspense-filled story down as I followed the story told from the points of view of Marissa and of Avery.

This amazing writing duo know how to build the twists and turns, challenging the reader to unravel the clues and figure out who is telling the truth and who is the danger hanging over all their heads.

I’ll be watching for the next book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.
