When Melanie Travis’ younger son Kevin sees a Great Dane at a dog show and becomes obsessed with the breed, little does she know they’ll soon have one living with their family, their collection of Standard Poodles and Bud. After the death of a Great Dane breeder, the dog community pitches in together and finds foster homes for all the Danes.
And soon Melanie is involved in solving the death of the breeder, with the help of her Aunt Peg, of course. There are more than enough suspects to go around, plus a new family sub-plot adds to the stress in Melanie’s life.
This is the thirty-first book in the series and, even though the kids are growing older, Melanie is still at their beck and call, as well as being dominated by her Aunt Peg in every aspect of her life. While it’s always fun to meet the new breed featured in the latest Melanie Travis novel, it would be lovely to see Melanie grow as a character. She’s not much different from the Melanie ten books ago.
